Select a local artist to feature
Every four months, our team highlights a member of the Oklahoma art community. The local Featured Artist assembles a gallery throughout amshot’s downtown office for visitors, clients, and employees alike to enjoy.
amshot’s next art opening, exhibITion: Bookish Birdwatching, will take place at amshot, 1300 N Broadway Dr. in Oklahoma City, on Thursday, June 25, from 5pm to 8pm. It will feature new artwork by Norman-based artist Erin Gericke Thomas.
Erin’s artwork focuses on the intricate details of a single leaf or individual bird, capturing their beauty and inspiring wonder through bright colors and simple lines. Her work has been displayed in galleries and private collections across the United States, as well as in international exhibitions in Japan and Iceland. She recently completed a month-long artist in residence program in Akureryi, Iceland.
The opening is free to attend. A suggested $5 wristband donation benefits amshot’s nonprofit partner for exhibITion: Bookish Birdwatching, the American Pigeon Museum & Library. In addition to viewing the artwork, guests can enjoy light hors-d’oeuvres and beverages. The American Pigeon Museum receives 10 percent of art sales, with 90 percent of sales going to the artist. Our brewery partner for exhibITion: Bookish Birdwatching is Lazy Circles Brewing in Norman.
For exhibition: Bookish Birdwatching, Erin painted birds that she identified on her travels and in her backyard onto curated vintage library materials tied to each bird. Featured birds include a Goldcrest found in the northernmost botanical gardens in Iceland, a Bullfinch identified in the streets of Edinburgh, Scotland, and a Blue Jay that lives in her backyard.

As a local business, amshot’s core values challenge the office to empower our community, and local art plays an important role in the Oklahoma City community. At amshot, technology is our business tool and our creative outlet, so our team wanted to support local artists who also use their creative passion as a career.
For attendees, a local art gallery in OKC brings strangers together, inspires us to see the beauty in the world, and encourages even the busiest of us to stop and smell the roses. For the art community, they provide a venue to exhibit art, an opportunity to expand their network, and a platform to highlight artists.
With this in mind, amshot created exhibITion, an art exhibit to promote local artists, give back to the organizations that are making a difference in our backyard, and enjoy the company of fellow art-lovers. Here’s how we do it:
