Amshot’s next art opening, exhibITion: Sophisticated, will take place at amshot, 1300 N Broadway Dr. in Oklahoma City, on Thursday, June 12, from 5pm to 8pm. It will feature new artwork by OKC-based artist Jack Fowler.

Jack is a painter of pop art portraits, contemporary western landscapes, murals, and custom sneakers. He also hosts a weekly radio show, Tumbleweeds All the Way Down, at KOSU/The Spy FM in Oklahoma City.

All wristband donations for food and drink and 10 percent of art sales at exhibITion: Sophisticated will benefit the Oklahoma City Philharmonic. Guests 21+ can enjoy local beer and wine. Light bites will also be provided.

ExhibITion: Sophisticated invites viewers to experience Western art beyond images from a distant, dustier century featuring cowboys on cattle drives wearing kerchiefs and six-shooters, a lone native sitting on his horse in full, feathered regalia, or landscapes stretching out forever under skies unpierced by cell phone towers.

“The West is a breathing, growing place, and I don’t think Western art should always be about nostalgia. I think it should be about trying to see how beautiful the West is right now. It’s knowing that cowboys still go on cattle drives, but sometimes they wear t-shirts and cell phone holsters. It’s realizing that an interstate can be as romantic as a railroad, and a wind turbine can be as pretty as a tree,” says Jack.

What is exhibITion?

As a local business, amshot’s core values challenge the office to empower our community, and local art plays an important role in the Oklahoma City community. At amshot, technology is our business tool and our creative outlet, so our team wanted to support local artists who also use their creative passion as a career.

For attendees, a local art gallery in OKC brings strangers together, inspires us to see the beauty in the world, and encourages even the busiest of us to stop and smell the roses. For the art community, they provide a venue to exhibit art, an opportunity to expand their network, and a platform to highlight artists.

With this in mind, amshot created exhibITion, an art exhibit to promote local artists, give back to the organizations that are making a difference in our backyard, and enjoy the company of fellow art-lovers. Here’s how we do it:

Select a local artist to feature
Every four months, our team highlights a member of the Oklahoma art community. The local Featured Artist assembles a gallery throughout amshot’s downtown office for visitors, clients, and employees alike to enjoy.
Host a gallery opening
We host a gallery opening for the tri-annual featured local artist(s) where attendees can mingle with our Okie artist, view a gallery of their work, purchase the art on display, and enjoy fellowship with the arts community.
Partner with local breweries
Each exhibITion we feature a different local brewery to raise awareness about another form of local art—exceptional brewing! For a $5 donation to the featured charitable organization, guests are served light hors-d’oeuvres and attendees 21+ can enjoy locally-made beer as well as wine.)
Donate proceeds from the event
We donate 100% of ticket sales and 10% of art sales to the featured Charitable Organization.
