exhibITion: Evolutions in Blue – An amshot Art Opening Featuring Laurel Payne

amshot’s latest art opening, exhibITion: Evolutions in Blue, showcased stunning new works by Oklahoma City artist Laurel Payne. Known for her mastery of watercolor, pen, and ink, Laurel explores themes of nature, human connection, and the ways experiences shape perception. She holds a double major in Studio Art and Art History from Oklahoma State University.

This event wasn’t just about art—it was about impact. Wristband donations for food and drinks, along with 10% of all art sales, benefited the Oklahoma Monarch Society, an organization dedicated to creating and protecting habitats for monarch butterflies and other pollinators across Oklahoma. Guests also enjoyed craft beer from our local brewery sponsor, Wells.

About the Artist

Laurel describes her work as a dialogue between control and chaos:

“The beauty of landscapes, flowers, and the human body inspire me. These subjects often create a sense of restlessness—a compulsion to visually interpret emotions toward a scene or object. Pen and ink provide precision and value through line work, while watercolor builds layers, depth, and organic movement.”

Her process embraces both planning and spontaneity, reflecting the paradox of life—purpose mixed with unpredictability.
