Every four months, our team highlights a member of the Oklahoma art community. The local Featured Artist assembles a gallery throughout amshot’s downtown office for visitors, clients, and employees alike to enjoy.
FEATURED LOCAL ARTIST:
amshot’s art opening, exhibITion: Flora & Ember, featuring OKC-based artist Brooke Hutchens, will take place at amshot, 1300 N Broadway Dr. in Oklahoma City, on Thursday, November 7, from 5pm to 8pm.
exhibITion: Flora & Ember is a celebration of nature’s intricate beauty and resilience, conveyed through a variety of mediums—wood burning, painting, drawing, and cyanotypes. Inspired by the organic forms and delicate structures found in flora, this body of work seeks to explore the relationship between nature’s fragility and its enduring strength.
Brooke has made art in Oklahoma City for more than 18 years. Her artwork has appeared nationally, from Times Square to The Vampire Diaries. She hand-mulls watercolor paints derived from natural earth pigments through her business, Redbud Pigment Co., which she uses in her artwork.
exhibITion: Flora & Ember will benefit Positive Tomorrows, Oklahoma’s only school and social services agency specifically for children and families experiencing homelessness. All wristband donations for food and drink and 10 percent of art sales at the opening benefit Positive Tomorrows. Guests 21+ can enjoy wine and beer from our brewery sponsor, Angry Scotsman Brewing.
“Each piece in this collection highlights the floral world, capturing the essence of petals, leaves, and stems through different artistic techniques. Wood burning, with its raw, elemental process, mirrors the way nature leaves its mark on the earth. The burnt lines in my pyrography work are reminiscent of the way fire shapes and renews the landscape, echoing the cycle of destruction and rebirth in the natural world,” says Brooke.
“In contrast, my paintings and cyanotypes offer a different perspective, focusing on the fleeting moments of beauty in a constantly evolving environment, while highlighting seasonal blooms both native and foreign to Oklahoma. Color is always the driving force.”
At the opening, guests can participate in a free cybersecurity info session from exhibITion sponsor, Datto. Datto provides products to backup, restore, and protect data; simplify operations; and manage networks. Amshot is proud to be a platinum vendor with Datto.
Cox is also sponsoring exhibITion: Flora & Ember.
As a local business, amshot’s core values challenge the office to empower our community, and local art plays an important role in the Oklahoma City community. At amshot, technology is our business tool and our creative outlet, so our team wanted to support local artists who also use their creative passion as a career.
For attendees, a local art gallery in OKC brings strangers together, inspires us to see the beauty in the world, and encourages even the busiest of us to stop and smell the roses. For the art community, they provide a venue to exhibit art, an opportunity to expand their network, and a platform to highlight artists.
With this in mind, amshot created exhibITion, an art exhibit to promote local artists, give back to the organizations that are making a difference in our backyard, and enjoy the company of fellow art-lovers. Here’s how we do it:
